Jackson 2010, 141). This has had the impact that film studios and makers have concocted TV shows which have become the most well known TV designs over the most recent few years. One clarification which accounts most for the achievement is that unscripted tv makes it feasible for the normal individual to be both a watcher and a TV star simultaneously (Breyer 2004, 3). The makers utilize this craving to get profoundly into the individual existences of the pseudo-stars. Accordingly it keeps them watching these shows all the time. In the film the maker Christof fabricates approaches to keep on the island (Jackson, 2010, 145). At the point when Truman was a kid Christof made a scene where Truman was cruising on a boot with his dad, when out of nowhere a major tempest came up and his dad disappeared. One modified result of this occasion is a dread of going over water; thus he cannot leave the island Seahaven (Jackson 2010, 145). At the point when the character suspects just because that his reality may be phony, the maker attempts to utilize this dread so as to keep him on the island. Since this stunt didnt work, he makes a hole in an atomic force plant, which at long last persuades Truman to return into his reality. In the USA the media utilize the intensity of narrating in TV programs and motion pictures by making emotional defining moments, cliffhangers and startling or cheerful endings to make the watchers needing to turn on the TV on a week after week premise. The expectation of the end is the thing that makes the start and center of any story connecting with (Jackson 2010, 146). Each film or TV Show spending plan is somewhat financed by business breaks, through the film studios which bring in cash by indicating explicit ad and along these lines getting cash from the delivering organization of the items (Glickman and Kim 2012, 1). Since the TV program The Truman Show in the film The Truman Show presents the life of the fundamental character 24 hours every day with no break, there is a bad situation for business breaks. Thus, the show creates huge incomes through a long way from unobtrusive item arrangements (Knox Fall 2010, 2). Macroeconomics: The study ot the economy as a whole including topics such as Inflation, unemployment, and economic growth. Micro and macro are closely Interwlned because changes In the overall economy arise from the decisions of individual households and firms. Second language in English Classes in Saudi Arabia A teaching Support or a Learning Hindrance
Aim In an insightful study on the use of first language in classroom, Cook (2001) revealed that most participants supported the application of the first language (Arabic) as a critical tool for mediation.Advertising We will write a custom proposal sample on Second language in English Classes in Saudi Arabia: A teaching Support or a Learning Hindrance? specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More However, the application of L1 in L2 settings has generated controversies, especially in regards to its effectiveness in the environment where not all learners share the same L1. This has called for the need to develop further insights into how the best application of language can form the bedrock of effective teaching and learning. The need to examine the use of L2 in English classroom setting has also attracted a significant number of researchers. However, research on the application of L2 in English classrooms in Saudi Arabia is inconclusive. This research seeks to examine whether the use of L2 in English classes in Saudi Arabia is an effective tool or a hindrance to learning. Literature Review A review of existing literature sources reveals that the development of effective teaching and learning practices has been an issue of concern to researchers the field of education. This is because of the need to transform teaching and learning practices through adoption of better methods of content delivery.Advertising Looking for proposal on languages? The proponents of this system argue that the first language forms the basis for creating meaningful connections to concepts in the second language (Cook, 2001). Machaal (2010) theorized that development of language skills is important to overall development of learning capabilities in students. Macaro (2005) presented an insightful analysis of the code switching to L2 classroom through a review of past teaching and learning strategies. In his analysis, the author claimed that ââ¬Å"theory and practice have started shifting towards acceptance of judicious and theoretically principled use of L1 in L2 classes and vice-versaâ⬠(p. 69). On the other hand, in a survey involving 30 students, and 10 EFL teachers, Machaal (2010) sought to examine whether the application of Arabic language in English classes presented meaningful benefits to the learners. After reviewing past literature sources and analyzing data collected from the sample participants, the author revealed that Arabic served as an important tool in theoretical and practical learning. Based on scarcity of literatures on the amount of L2 language used in foreign classrooms, Duff and Polio (1990) sought br idge the gap in literature by examining ââ¬Å"how much foreign language is there in the foreign language classroomâ⬠(p. 1). In a study involving a survey of 21 sampled students conducted in the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the researchers found and presented findings similar to past researchers (Macaro, 2005; Machaal, 2010).Advertising We will write a custom proposal sample on Second language in English Classes in Saudi Arabia: A teaching Support or a Learning Hindrance? specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Whereas there were a number of limitations to the study, the researchers revealed that the amount of foreign language in a foreign language classroom differs based on factors related to the demands of the learner. Justification In an analysis of ââ¬Å"the socio-cultural context of English language teaching in the Gulfâ⬠by Syed (2003), it was revealed that local problems require homegrown solutions. T his implies that the application of L2 in English classroom in the Gulf does not lead to any meaningful benefits. In his concluding remarks, the author pointed out that application of L1 in L2 classroom settings was appropriate for the achievement of a more holistic learning. This is because learning is a process that begins with the unknown. The need to carry out research in this particular area revolves around the changing nature of learning and teaching and the need to develop effective responsive methods. References Cook, V. (2001). Tips for Teachers to Avoid Compromising Situations
Tips for Teachers to Avoid Compromising Situations Educators are often looked upon to be moral leaders for a community. They have such a profound impact on and contact with youth that they are often held to higher moral standards than the average person. They are expected to avoid compromising situations. Whether you agree or disagree with this sentiment, it is still a reality and one that should be taken into consideration for anyone thinking about becoming a teacher. It seems like you cannot open a newspaper or watch the news without seeing another educator that failed to avoid a compromising situation. These situations do not typically occur on whimsy, but instead, develop over a period of time. They almost always begin because the educator lacked good judgment and put themselves in a compromising situation. The situation continues and progresses for many different reasons. It likely could have been avoided if the educator would have acted rationally and worked to avoid the initial compromising situation. Educators would avoid 99% of these situations if they simply use good common sense. Once they make the initial error in judgment, it is almost impossible to correct the mistake without there being consequences. Educators cannot put themselves in a compromising situation. You must be proactive in avoiding these situations. There are several simple strategies to protect you from losing your career and going through unnecessary personal strife. Avoid Social Media Society is bombarded by social media every single day. Sites such as Facebook and Twitter will not be going away anytime soon. These sites offer all users the unique chance to allow friends and family to stay connected. The majority of students have one or multiple social media accounts, and they are on them all the time. Educators have to be careful when creating and using their own personal social media accounts. The first and most important rule is that students should never be accepted as friends or allowed to follow your personal site. It is a disaster waiting to happen. If for nothing else, students do not need to know all the personal information made readily available when given access to your site. Document/Report Situation if Unavoidable On occasion, there are some situations that cannot be avoided. This is especially true for coaches or coaches who may students waiting to be picked up when they are finished. Eventually, only one could be left. In that case, the coach/tutor could choose to go sit out in the car by themselves while the student waits at the doors inside the building. It would still be advantageous to let the building principal know the next morning and to document the situation, just to cover themselves. Never Be Truly Alone There are times when it may seem necessary to be alone with a student, but there is almost always a way to avoid it. If you need to have a conference with a student, especially with a student of the opposite sex, it is always wise to ask another teacher to sit in on the conference. If no other teacher is available to sit in on the conference, it may be better to postpone it, than to have it. At the very least, you can leave your door open and make sure others in the building are aware of what is going on. Do not put yourself in a situation where it could be a he said/she said type of deal. Never Befriend Students Many first year teachers fall victim to trying to be their studentsââ¬â¢ friend instead of being a solid, effective teacher. Very little good can come out of being a studentââ¬â¢s friend. You are setting yourself up for trouble especially if you teach middle school or high school students. It is far better to be a good, hard nose teacher that most students do not like than it is to be one that is best friends with everyone. Students will take advantage of the latter and it often easily leads to compromising situations at some point. Never Exchange Cell Phone Numbers There are not many solid reasons to have a studentââ¬â¢s phone number or for them to have yours. If you have given a student your cell phone number, you are simply asking for trouble. The texting era has led to an increase in compromising situations. Students, who would not dare say anything inappropriate to a teacherââ¬â¢s face, will be bold and brazen through a text. By giving a student your cell phone number, you open the door to those possibilities. If you do receive an inappropriate message, you could ignore it or report it, but why open yourself to that possibility when you can just keep your number private. Never Give Students a Ride Providing a student with a ride puts you in a liable situation. First of all, if you have a wreck and the student is injured or killed, you will be held responsible. That should be enough to deter this practice. People are also easily seen in cars. This can give people a false perspective that can lead to trouble. Letââ¬â¢s say that you innocently give a student whose car broke down a ride home. Someone in the community sees you and begins a rumor saying that you are having an inappropriate relationship with that student. It could ruin your credibility. It simply isnââ¬â¢t worth it, because there were likely other options. Never Respond to Personal Questions Students of all ages will ask personal questions. Set limits immediately when the school year begins and refuse to allow your students or yourself to cross that personal line. This is especially true if you are unmarried. It is no studentââ¬â¢s business as to whether or not you have a boyfriend or girlfriend. If they cross the line by asking something too personal, tell them they crossed a line and then immediately report it to an administrator. Students often fish for information and will take things as far as you let them.

Critical Essay on The Scarlet Letter
Critical Essay on The Scarlet Letter Critical Essay on The Scarlet Letter Hawthorne is just that, the tragic story of Hester Prynne, a women found guilty of adultery, her rejection, public humiliation, and her inner feelings and the effect on her community in 1850. It is a tragic story. Hawthorne tries to bring some hope into the story, but largely it is a book of despair. With skill, he shares the paradox in human nature and sets off his romantic ideas against the rigid religious Puritan culture. The main question is why Hawthorne had to give it a tragic end? Was it essential to the success of his communication? I do not think so. Hester is the principle character in the story line. She is branded and adulteress and must wear a scarlet A on her dress. Yet she is a strong likeable person. As Hawthorne develops his story, she goes through difficult times. We are given insight into her conflict and herself rejection. This creates an empathy for Hester and creates the desire that she finds happiness. As she is the tragic hero in the story, it becomes clear that she will not find happiness. Her downfall is inevitable, but such is Hawthorneââ¬â¢s power that you keep hoping she will overcome. Hawthorne deliberately hints to possible redemption. Hester and Reverend Dimmesdale plan to escape and make their way to England. Hester deeply loves him and in England they could live free of the shame place on her by this puritan community. In England, their love would be ââ¬Å"legitimate.â⬠Instead, Dimmsdale confesses his sin in the matter and dies. The community is engulfed with the scandal and Hester leaves. Later she comes back and lives on her own until she dies. Had Dimmsdale lived and taken her to live in England, would it have damaged Hawthornes communication? I dont think so. The story was about Hesters nature, the human paradox, and the ââ¬Å"human condition.â⬠Hawthorne is showing that suffering, tragedy is the essence of mans being, and human nature will always find that is so. I think in this book nothing shown about human nature would have been undermined if it had ended well. Life is filled with suffering caused by human nature, yet it is also softened with times of love, laughter and joy. In my view I would have seen their escape as evidence that no matter how dark the night there is at least the moon, if not noonday sun. Hesters self-image and Dimmsdales conflicting behavior and desires are tremendously insightful and they are interesting subjects. They would be no less so if Hawthorne had allowed them to get to England. There they would have been able to be free of the stigma of the scarlet letter, giving hope to people trapped in bigoted communities that there are other places and other people with different views. They would have shed light on their experiences and feelings, and given insight into a more realistic picture of life. The result is that Hawthorne admirably explored a part of live and the human nature. However, it is only part, because life consists not only of rejection despair fear and death that is only part of it. He did not have to give it a tragic end to make his point. Religious Tolerance - Essay Example In addition, the reorganization and study of distinct religious tradition offers different way of conceptualizing and organizing the differing ideas about god and social organization that arise from these different opinions concerning the understanding of God. For long time, religion has been helpful to mankind in that it is very for humans to live without order orientation or religion. This is because; religion provides a basis on which people, societies and different world cultures built their lives and institutions. In order to embrace religious tolerance, it is important for people to establish a basic familiarity with other traditions and develop an open mind to be comfortable with the concept that it is possible for others to apply different conceptual systems to organize the same experience and aspirations that we posses. Marketing Employability Portofolio - Personal Statement Example As emphasized on one of the business courses I am currently taking, I need to think strategically in order to ensure the achievement my specific goals and objectives. Thus, I have already set my vision which is to pursue a rewarding career and maximize my full potential. In light with this, my specific objective is to gain a position in the insurance industry which is equally challenging and fulfilling. The employability assessment enabled me to craft the specific strategy required in the attainment of my objectives. I need to accept my ignorance and misconceptions about the UK and international job market. Undertaking the first and third tasks of the assessment revealed these to me. I have also learned that the situation of the UK economy which is slowly integrated with the international market through globalization has a direct impact on the attractiveness and prospects of the labor market. Thus, I need to be imbued with a thorough understanding of the current issues, trends, and development in order to equip myself with the challenges posted by the larger environment. The employability tasks enable me to better know myself by revealing my current skills and the ones which I need to improve on. Currently, I am commercially aware, flexible, adept in numerical analysis, has established a professional image, able to listen, attuned to customer needs, and has basic IT skills. Though these skills are primary in gaining a good position in the job market, I also recognize that I also need to be imbued with more especially that the current labor market and employers require their employees not only to specialize in a field but build my strengths and to become multi-tasking. Thus, I am highly motivated to develop various skills including leadership, analysis, research, written communication, planning and organizing, and oral communication. I have committed myself in taking action as soon as possible and be able to acquire the aforementioned skills before the year ends. I also recognize that the best way for me to develop these capabilities is by exposing m yself to situations where these skills are needed. I also plan to write a daily journal where I keep track of my development each day. This way, I will not lose my passion in striving for excellence. One of the most exciting tasks in the employability assessment is the hands-on experience on finding job vacancies, making the appropriate resume, preparing an accompanying covering letter, and getting ready for the interview. I have learned that this is not as easy as it seems and needs a thorough planning ahead of time. These tasks teach me the importance of

Developing an Opacity Sensor :: Opacity Sensors Technology Essays
Developing an Opacity Sensor There is a huge range of different sensors in this world, designed to detect changes in temperature, size, distance and many other important factors. Their ability to do this makes them valuable for use in industry, in particular, production processes. I have chosen to develop a sensor which measures the concentration of solution, suitable for the factory production of pre-diluted fruit squashes. The sensor can control the machinery via a servo-mechanism, indicating whether more squash needs to be added. The context in which my sensor is to be used is an important consideration as it determines a suitable sensitivity and resolution. Factors to consider when designing a sensor: Sensitivity The ratio of change of output to change of input. A very sensitive sensor will give a big change of output for a small change of input. A sensor which detects very small changes of input will need to be very sensitive so these changes can be observed. Resolution The smallest change the sensor can detect in the quantity it is measuring. If you had a quantity which was displayed as 0.0076, this sensor would have quite a high resolution (depending on what it was measuring). If the last digit were fluctuating this would be the maximum resolution of the sensor as it can only just resolve a change of that magnitude ââ¬â 10,000th. A cooks oven may only need a resolution of 5à ºC whereas a baby monitoring system requires a resolution of 0.5 ââ¬â 1à ºC. Response time The time a sensor takes to respond to a change in input. If changes occur more rapidly than this then they will usually be averaged out. The response time should be suitable to detect important changes as they occur. Systematic Most sensors are affected by changes in temperature, even those that arenââ¬â¢t designed to detect them. Some sensors may also be affected by other environmental changes depending on their methods of detection, for example a LDR might produce different readings on a sunny day if the whole system isnââ¬â¢t enclosed. Such influences will produce readings that display the correct trend but each reading is erroneous by the same amount. For this reason systematic errors are difficult to detect and an only by making another more accurate measurement. Today ââ¬Å"smart systemsâ⬠process information to compensate for disturbing influences. Noise, random error, fluctuations The input signal may fluctuate or the sensor itself may generate noise. Unsystematic variations are present in all experimental data and their size determines the reliability of the data and limits the precision with which a measurement can be made. Taking an average over repeated measurements can improve the final result

My Thoughts About ââ¬ÅDo You Speak American?ââ¬Â
After watching this video, I asked myself ââ¬Å"Do I speak American? â⬠Absolutely, the answer was no. In the past, I thought American English was only a language which pronounced ââ¬Å"râ⬠heavily. Surprisingly, according to the map of dialect, America can be divided by seven parts. They are Eastern New English, NYC,Philadelphia, The North, The Midland, The South and The West. And different regions of America have different dialects. In terms of the dialect of American English, I have a re-understanding of this language. I find it is interesting, even surprising, and I am more curious about that. The dialects of American English is really interesting. Honestly, when I hear a conversation or a speech, I can hardly recognize the accents without special note, although sometimes I can recognize the obvious accents according to the meaning of the sentence. For example, most young California say [? ] to replace [? ], say ââ¬Å"likeâ⬠as ââ¬Å"lakeâ⬠. According to my personal experience, when I traveled to Miami, Florida, I heard that most people in there said ââ¬Å"liftâ⬠as ââ¬Å"leftâ⬠. Moreover, Net English used among young people is another part of interest. For example, ââ¬Å"das koolâ⬠equals ââ¬Å"that is coolâ⬠, ââ¬Å"lolâ⬠means ââ¬Å"laugh out loudâ⬠, ââ¬Å"How ya doin hunâ⬠is ââ¬Å"how are you doing honey? â⬠, ââ¬Å"g2gâ⬠means ââ¬Å"got to goâ⬠, etc. Maybe they think typing English in this way is more convenient and fashionable, however, I do not think so. Furthermore, experts recommend that TV series is a good way to recognize and learn dialects since the actors of a program are come from different regions. At last, teenagers prefer to use some new words of phrases to express an common meaning, such as ââ¬Å"bling blingâ⬠refers to expensive jewelry. This is popular and sometimes I also use that to express myself. Actually, I am surprised about the dialects of Americ an English in the following aspects. Firstly, in North America, people will laugh at lobstermanââ¬â¢s dialect and make fun with the way they speak. As far as I am concerned, we should respect different languages and cultures. Even though we cannot understand the way of communication, every dialect must has its own value to exist. Moreover, although people dislike some dialects, they can always imitate those dialects they hate. It is unbelievable. In addition, I watched these three DVDs without subtitle. So when I watched the CD2 which introduced the dialects in the mid-land, I found it was difficult for me to understand what people said. However, it is easier to understand what the north and west people said. I think it means that the people of mid-land and south have strong accents. Frankly, there are some points that I do not know before I watching this video. First of all, Philadelphia shakes the American speech more than any other city. Secondly, the Black and the White cannot communicate with each other by using English at the beginning.Thirdly, some people who come from the mid-land consider New Yorker speak bad English, since New Yorker say ââ¬Å"waterâ⬠as ââ¬Å"[w? :d? ]â⬠. To be honest, as for me, I like the dialect of New York. Fourthly, some pronounciation of dialect are totally different from the original pronounciation. For example, in Ohio and Michigan, ââ¬Å"yinsâ⬠means ââ¬Å"youâ⬠, and in north, ââ¬Å"ayuhâ⬠is equal to ââ¬Å"yesâ⬠, etc. Finally, looking at magazines to find new words is a job, its purpose is to update the dictionary. To sum up, I donââ¬â¢t think I am speaking American even though I am in New York now.The dialects in United States are diverse. In my opinion, dialect is a component of cultural activities. And some dialects are related to history, some are related to the life style of different region. There are a variety of expressions for dialects. Those include the differences of pron ounciation, the new words for common meaning, net English, etc. Most important, no matter what kind of language we say, we should respect all of them and admit the existence value of them. At last, I think watching different American TV series is a good way for me to improve my American English.

Should Public Service Mandatory For Graduation Requirement
ontinuous debate that is currently receiving much attention nationwide is whether the education system should make community service mandatory for graduation requirement. Preparing students to effectively function in the real world is an important aspect of our education system. Today more than ever, there is an emphasis on having experience before beginning work. Most jobs are now focused on looking past your resume to see what you have given back to the community. Nevertheless, it is important that schools focus on preparing college students for the work force by mandating that they receive all of the necessary exposure and experience. Schools nationwide are demanding that students must complete a required amount of community service hours in order to graduate. In Maryland, high school students are required to complete a minimum of 75 hours of service in order to graduate. While the opponents feel that it takes away valuable time from students who need to focus on their education. I believe that gaining experience outside of school is critical for future success in life. To ensure that students are prepared to transition smoothly from school to work, they need to be involved with the community while in school in order to build the leadership skills that are necessary to succeed.
